Delhi Medical Association came into existence in 1914 under the dynamic leadership of Dr. M.A. Ansari, Dr. Rai, Sahib Attar Chand, Dr. S.P. Sharoff, Abdul Rehaman & many other stalwarts of the medical profession & country. The interesting fact is that it is older than the National body which is Indian Medical Association (IMA). The first inaugural function was held on 20.8.1914 in the consulting room of Dr. Ansari in Fatehpuri Mosque. Out of the total nu,ber of 28 medical practitioners at that time, 23 attended the meeting and thus an organisation, which has now acquired its present stature with more than 9000 members on its roll.

94 years, we have travelled a long way in health care delivery in our country. No doubt, we have excelled in many a discipline of medicine over the past years. To day have attained state of art medical technology matching at par with any of the western countries.

Delhi Medical Association is a premier Medical Association of the capital city with a membership of over 10000 and is the Delhi State Branch of the Indian Medical Association. The membership represents doctors from Private Sector, Government Institutions, Nursing Homes, and includes general practitioners, specialists, super specialists in all fields of medicine, surgery and from all major Govt. & Non Govt. hospitals Delhi.

Delhi Medical Association is the highest and biggest platform of doctors of medicines has involved into mass scale vaccination, health checkup camps, measles and pulse polio programmea. DMA has totally decentralised all its activities to all its 13 branches spread all over Delhi and in now fully devoted for its total work up on health policies and other issues of Delhi Govt., National & International health agencies and health associations.

Today, DMA is fully dedicated in its objective of creating awareness against quackery and the eradication there of from the capital city of India, the Delhi. Our membership to from few in 1914 to more than 10000 in year 2008 DMA has also swollen up over the years making the association stronger and stronger day by day.
